Maryland Center for School Safety

2025 student art showcase

through november 30, 2025

The Maryland Center for School Safety (MCSS) is an independent unit of the State government that provides training, support, and grants to public, non-public special education, and private schools throughout Maryland.  By taking a layered approach to school safety, we promote collaboration among students, parents, educators, mental health practitioners, law enforcement, and crime prevention practitioners, focusing on the physical and emotional well-being of Maryland students.  Our vision of "Safe Schools" is inclusive of an educational environment free from fear, harm, trauma, and unnecessary hardships.

The Art Showcase is an annual event that aims to engage students in a creative and reflective process on different themes centered around school safety.  It is a platform for students to creatively explore the theme of school safety, expressing their thoughts, experiences, and aspirations through various art forms.   Through this showcase, MCSS aims to foster dialogue among educators, parents, and the community about the crucial topic of school safety.  By listening to students' voices and perspectives, we advocate for mental health support, anti-bullying efforts, emergency preparedness, and promoting a respectful and inclusive school environment.

Join us in celebrating the power of art to inspire change and create safer, more positive schools for all, aligning with the broader goals of school safety initiatives.
